Originally a street artist, Italian artist Emanuele Ronco, aka Rems 182, created this collection of Portraits on Paper 2012 using just colors and spray paints on paper. Each piece combines streaks of colorful paint as a background to what appear to be, at first glance, traditional portraits. You may also get your artworks printed on UPrinting Canvas Prints.
Rems 182 is one of four friends who formed Truly Design, an artistic collective. Since their adolescence, they’ve shared a passion for graffiti and street art. The group’s horizons quickly widened from sole artistic production to illustration, graphic design, logotype design, didactics, canvas printing and other creative applications.
The artist says “This series was born in 2011 with a portrait of Berlusconi, in a time when our country, on the verge of collapse, was led by the famous statesman. From that moment, I decided to focus on portraying heads of state or PM’s with controversial personalities and historic roles, to say the least. My portraits aim at stressing the contrast between the images from official propaganda which they convey through the media and their more intimate and fragile side, hidden beneath the palm of their hand.”
